John Burton

California Senate President Pro-Tempore

State Capitol Room 205

Sacramento, CA 95814

Dear Senator Burton:

The Green Party of California, by unanimous resolution of its Plenary Body on Sunday, May 5th, 2002, is joining the growing ranks of Californians who support strengthening of the state's open-meetings and public-records laws through passage of the proposed Senate Constitutional Amendment 7. Please find a copy of the resolution enclosed with this note.

We especially appreciate your leadership in the effort to advance SCA7 through the Senate in order to place it on this November's General Election ballot. In addition, we hope that the amendment reaches the ballot with its original language, as crafted by the California First Amendment Coalition and the California Newspaper Publishers Association, intact and uncut.

If there are ways in which we can further participate in this endeavor, please contact us.

With best regards,

Don Eichelberger, Co-Chair

Green Party of California Issues Working Group
